How to store a comforter in a vacuum storage bag
Comforters are the bulkiest thing most of us store between seasons. A vacuum storage bag compresses one into a flat package you can slide under the bed or onto a shelf.
Step by step
01 Choose the XL bag
A queen or king comforter needs the XL size (31.5 x 39.5 inches). Smaller throws and light blankets fit the large bag.
02 Start clean and fully dry
Store your comforter freshly washed and completely dry so no moisture is sealed in with it.
03 Fold to fit, below the fill line
Fold the comforter into a flat rectangle a little smaller than the bag. Keep everything below the fill line so the zipper closes easily.
04 Seal the double zipper
Run the zipper from end to end, pressing along the seal to make sure it's fully closed.
05 Remove the air
Turn the valve cap counterclockwise to open. Place the Nuvora Home Cordless Pump on the valve and double-press the power button, or use a standard household vacuum hose. When done, turn the cap clockwise to close.
06 Store flat
Slide the bag under the bed, onto a closet shelf, or into a storage bin. Bags can be stacked, but don't fold them once filled.
Common questions
- What size vacuum bag fits a comforter?
- Nuvora Home XL bags measure 31.5 x 39.5 inches and fit queen and king comforters, duvets, and bulky winter coats.
- Can I fold a comforter after it's vacuum sealed?
- Not recommended. Folding a filled, compressed bag can shorten its life or let air seep back in. Fold the comforter before sealing, then store the bag flat.
- Do I need a special pump?
- No. You can use the Nuvora Home Cordless Pump or a standard household vacuum hose on the valve.
Every Nuvora Home set includes 2 XL bags.
Ten bags in four sizes, enough for comforters, coats, and seasonal clothes.
